MTG Tutorials ep 1.2

Welcome guys, to the first proper magic tutorial episode. I know its been a while since i promised this, but things have been hectic lately and so I've had a backlog of things to do.

So, without further ado I bring to you today's tutorial episode :)

Magic Tutorials Episode 1.2
Card Types

Welcome planeswalker, to Magic tutorials premier debut. The objective of the first part of this series is to get you up and running in a first game of Magic The Gathering.

There are 7 different card types in Magic The Gathering, some you'll encounter more often than others and some you'll rarely get to see.
This is because different decks use them differently and each deck uses a different amount of them. Some are crucial to running a deck, whereas others are just awesome to have but seldom see play because they are hard to come by.
Now these 7 main types of magic cards are:
  1. Lands
  2. Creatures
  3. Sorceries
  4. Instants
  5. Enchantments
  6. Artifacts
  7. Planeswalkers
The above types are the basic main 7 types of cards used in MTG, they are later separated into sub types and colors but we'll come to that at some other point in time :)

Here's a brief explanation of what each card type is,

Lands
These form the backbone of your deck, Lands produce mana whenever you tap them. This mana is then placed in what we call a mana pool. From there, the mana is then used to power your spells, creature abilities, and most of what your deck can do is based on it.
Therefore, the lack of these would cause severe mana problems with your deck. On the other hand, overabundance, or just too much land can also cause problems with the consistency of the spells you draw. (as lands cannot attack by themselves.)

Creatures
Another part of your deck that can be very important, is the creatures. Depending on what style of play you have, creatures may or may not play an important role in your deck. Their job is to put on an attack force to attack your opponent's life total with. They are also there to defend your own life total against the enemy's attack forces.
